General context and The works volunteers have to do.

CENTRE DES HOMMES offers to its volunteers a possibility to provide tutoring classes to children in a village near Kpalimé or in other villages in Togo. These children suffer from great academic shortcomings or weakness, such as English which is an international language and especially French which is the official language in Togo. These shortcomings or weakness are due to the fact that many of these children speak little French or English in their families and to the problems linked to the primary, secondary or high school educator in the village. In fact, in rural areas, teachers are often underpaid and therefore they play their role little to heart. It is not so rare to see teachers attached themselves to their hoes to go work in the farms to increase their monthly income stream. These children are therefore accumulates then a big late in their learning and studying so hard that it is difficult for them to get out of this situation.

That is why we CDH find it essential to stop these gaps! For this reason we invite you to bring your skills, competencies, supports and others to the rescue. The help you can give them will be of great benefit to them. You can also contribute to their maturity and better future.

On the other hand, according to our survey and assessment in a CEP (Preparatory school) room for a given school year, we see a large advance in the number of girls over the number of boys, but as the years pass the number of girls decreases and it is seen that the numbers of girls are considerably reduced in the terminal class. This would proved that boys resist and girls they abandon school very early and they become less and less illiterate. Girls' education becomes fragile, creating dangerous situations for society. This is why we make the situation known to the volunteers that the basic education of young girls, is our priority at Centre Des Hommes. CDH, especially insists on basic education for young girls for their better development.

The work that the volunteers will do therefore consists of being like father educators, teacher in school support, tutoring, literacy and leisure activities for schoolchildren. This is a CDH socio-educational volunteer program.
This project is part of short and long duration stay missions and it affects all people open to intercultural relations, people open in cultural exchange field, the people whose hearts speak to them and people who take thing seriously.

MISSION OF THE VOLUNTEER

General objective of the mission:
PROMOTE THE EDUCATION OF SCHOOLCHILDREN, THE SCHOOL KIDS AND ESPECIALLY YOUNG GIRLS IN RURAL SETTINGS THROUGH SCHOOL SUPPORT, LITERACY, LEISURE OR SOCIO-EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITY.

Specific objective of the mission

The activities are determined by these following objectives:
- Serve as an educator
- Program socio-educational activities (Mobilisation of volunteers around activities by a group from 8 am (time to start lessons) to 11.30 am (end of lessons) in the school.
- Provide courses in French, English or German
- Do the documentation and to develop the courses
- Facilitate socio-educational and literacy activities (Leisure activities for village children, Socio-educational activities in kindergartens or nurseries, Socio-educational activities in orphanages, Socio-educational activities with deaf-mute children and adolescents.)

Missions / Activities

• Elaborate a planning of subjects under the assistance of the titular professors.
• Volunteers placed in schools will have to assist teachers in their tasks in order to immerse themselves in the country's education system. Thus, with the help of the latter, they will be able to organise support courses in accordance with the country's current program.

• The volunteers will intervene in the contents (subjects) of their competence:
French, English, German, Spanish, drawing, Music, Sports, Mathematics and Physical Sciences.

• The volunteers will develop or carry out cultural and artistic activities in the various workshops: collage, drawing, games, storytelling, songs and dance, modelling and making of various objects.

• Volunteers are invited to bring any document that they can use.

• The volunteers will assist the teachers in the daily work with the children.

Means of realisation

To achieve this project we are looking for:
• The search for volunteers, especially expatriates in groups or individuals for school support activities, socio - educational animation.
• Several international volunteers are needed.
• The participation costs for the realisation of the project, accommodation and food.
• Search for school tools and supplies so that, at the end of the work, they are distributed to the children supported. (Bic, notebook, book and others)
• Donations from volunteers to carry out activities
• Fundraising to support schools in villages.

Expected results

- We would see at the end of the work camps, the children are well trained, speaking French improve
- The lessons are mastered by the children and they pass the various exams, the increased education of young girls is developing with their large admission at the start of the school year.
- Children following socio-educational activities develop their own artistic, craft and cultural creativity.
- More than 100 children are grouped around the activities programmed for the volunteer work camps.
- At the end of the volunteers work camps we see these children leaving with new knowledge brought by the skills of the volunteers.

PROHIBITED ON WORK CAMPS

• Center des Hommes is not a marriage agency
• Quarrels, thefts, are strictly prohibited (those who do are: either sent back or punished or excluded or repatriated)
• Volunteers' outings or go outside and returns must be reported to the person in charge of the work camps  or the right supervisor who is running the work camps or the main leader for the work camps of that renovation volunteering program.
• Indiscipline and lack of respect are not tolerated, but doing with the values of others is tolerated.

THE LOCATION WHERE WILL TAKE PLACE THE SCHOOL SUPPORT, TUTORING, LITERACY AND LEISURE ACTIVITY OF SCHOOLCHILDREN OF CDH VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM

PLACES: Kpalimé and its surrounding villages.

Kpalimé is a city located in the southwest of Togo and is the prefecture of kloto. Kpalimé is a city where agriculture is the main activity of these populations and from there comes more than 50% of the agricultural wealth of the country. Kpalimé is also a city where most of Togo's mountains are in its surroundings with panoramic views, rivers, forests and tourist activities such as going for walks in the mountains, going to uncovered and undiscovered waterfalls etc. Kpalimé is the city of artists where most of the young people find their income in the feasibility of arts of all kinds. Around there are sympathetic villages where the need is felt and calls on us to intervene for the good cause and to provide a solution to these needs. It is from these villages that you will carry out the activities of volunteering program concerning school support, tutoring, literacy and leisure activity of schoolchildren.

TIMES DURATION OF THE SCHOOL SUPPORT, TUTORING, LITERACY AND LEISURE ACTIVITY OF SCHOOLCHILDREN CDH VOLUNTEERING PROGRAM

TIME OF THE MISSIONS: We offer two possibilities of stay time.

The reason is simple, because some volunteer wanted to do internship or being in long term mission in the fields of education in Africa. So with CDH they have possibility for this long term stay duration which is an advantage for them and last from three months till to one year and it is must discuss between the volunteer and CDH administration.

Also some volunteer wanted just to bring their help for short stay duration and the can not afford more than one mouth because of their duties at their home country. We offer them a possibility to stay and to help for one month. 

However THE LENGTH OF TIME THE VOLUNTEER WILL STAY depends of himself. 

SHORT TIMES STAY DURATION FOR THE SCHOOL SUPPORT, TUTORING, LITERACY AND LEISURE ACTIVITY OF SCHOOLCHILDREN IN EDUCATION FIELD

TIME FOR SHORT STAY: For the volunteering program concerning school support, tutoring, literacy and leisure activity of schoolchildren 21 days (In work camps: School Support, Leisure activities for children and Vision Literacy to raise the educational level of village children. Children in villages have gaps in speaking and writing English and especially French, the official language of the village. country.) Program for the "short-term" literacy work camps.

LONG TIMES STAY DURATION FOR THE SCHOOL SUPPORT, TUTORING, LITERACY AND LEISURE ACTIVITY OF SCHOOLCHILDREN IN EDUCATION FIELD

TIME FOR LONG STAY: THE MISSIONS OF LONG TERM IS UNDETERMINED AND IS ACCORDING TO THE AVAILABILITY OF THE VOLUNTEER: From Three months to one year are long time duration possibility (In internship or on Mission: Volunteers assist the course of teachers, primary school, college or high school teachers and are empowered to provide lessons depending on the subject in order to bring these children usual skills.)

NB: Long time stay is not available anymore now for some time.
